Hamilton v Lewis

"Dave I'm the best in the world and I deserve some respect". Yeah, course you do son...

The best World Darts Championship of all time comes to an end tonight, with a match that wouldn't have sold out a quarter of capacity if it had been announced 17 days ago. Forgive me for being in such a bad mood but I'm still in disbelief at what happened last night.

I returned home from the Pigeons pub quiz (a respectable joint-4th) looking forward to the darts. I have no idea at all how Simon Whitlock and James Wade managed to throw their games away, costing me a fortune in the process.

You have to worry about Wade in particular. The 8-0 up loss to Scott Waites took him a year to recover from, but this was much worse, and his confidence must be absolutely shot to pieces. I'll continue to back him at decent prices, because for large parts of these Championships he looked the best player in the world, but you can't afford to switch off against top players like Lewis and Part, or you're in trouble.

I'll be cheering on Hamilton tonight, and he's got every chance of springing a small upset, but I've just had one bet and that's the following:

Highest Checkout Under 144.5 - 2pts @ 5/6 with Victor Chandler

The line just looks a bit high to me and most firms are going 140.5.
